It Started With a Few Strange Faces.
Every strange thing starts somewhere.
Sometimes it’s an idea. Sometimes it’s a conversation. And sometimes it’s a drawing of something with too many teeth and a questionable expression.
For BEING, a lot of those ideas start on paper.
A Few Familiar Strangers
From the beginning, we wanted BEING to feel a little different. Playful, unexpected, and not particularly concerned with fitting into any one category.
That gave us plenty of room to explore.
These are some of the early character sketches created while developing the visual world of BEING. Different faces, different personalities, and a few expressions that are difficult to explain.
We liked them immediately.

There’s No One Way to BEING
One of the things we enjoy most about building BEING is that nothing has to look or feel exactly the same.
Some ideas are loud and colorful. Others are simple and a little strange.
That’s part of the fun.
We’re not interested in making everything fit neatly into one box. We’d rather give good ideas room to become whatever they’re supposed to be.
Not everything makes it onto a skateboard. Not every sketch becomes something finished. But each one adds a little personality to the world we’re creating.
And if you’ve spent any time around here, you’ve probably figured out that we have a soft spot for strange characters.
There will be more.
